NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED LOCAL LAW

INTRODUCTORY LOCAL LAW NO. 1 OF 2023

The Town Board of the Town of Chester will hold a public hearing on a proposed local law entitled:

A LOCAL LAW TO UPDATE AND AMEND CHAPTER 87, ARTICLE VI, OF THE TOWN CODE OF THE TOWN OF CHESTER TO AUTHORIZE PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTION TO VOLUNTEER FIREFIGHTERS AND VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE WORKERS IN ACCORDANCE WITH NEW YORK STATE REAL PROPERTY TAX LAW §466-a

Be it enacted by the Town of Chester in the County of Orange, as follows:

Section 1.              Purpose and Intent

It is the intent and purpose of this Local Law to update and amend Chapter 87, Article VI, of the Town Code of the Town of Chester, entitled “Exemption for Volunteer Emergency Personnel”, to grant a partial real property tax exemption to qualifying volunteer firefighters, volunteer ambulance workers, and their qualifying spouses, residing in the Town of Chester, County of Orange, State of New York, as authorized by New York State Real Property Tax Law §466-a.

Said public hearing will take place in the Town Hall Meeting Room, 1786 Kings Highway, Chester, NY on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at 7 PM or as soon thereafter as the matter may be heard.
