OEM Storm Preparation Update

Release Date: October 26, 2012

The Office of Emergency Management has put out the following advisory for Mendham Township residents.  In the event of flooding in low lying areas or problems resulting from downed trees during the course of the forecasted storm, an emergency shelter will be opened at the Mendham Township Emergency Services Building in Brookside.   Residents in need of shelter during the storm should contact Evan Thomas at 973-543-7213 or go directly to the shelter location.  The plan as of the time of this message is for the shelter to open early Sunday evening.

The Office of Emergency Management has also made arrangements for a potable water truck to be situated in the Township municipal complex parking lot located at Main Street and Cherry Lane.  Residents in need of potable water should look for additional information on the timing of the truck's arrival to be posted on the Township web site after the storm has past.

Post storm, the Emergency Services building will provide ice, shower facilities, and a warming station.  Please call 973-543-7213.

Residents experiencing emergent situations during the storm or after should utilize the 911 system to contact Township emergency service personnel.  Residents are also strongly encouraged to limit the use of the portable phones during the storm to emergency use only so to protect against overloading the cell network.  If non-emergency messages must be conveyed by mobile device during the storm, text messaging is the recommended alternative.
