Power Outage Update For Mendham Township

Release Date: October 31, 2011
To All Residents Affected By Power Outages

In an advisory dated October 31, JCP&L/First Energy provided the following information.  The Company has line crews, forestry crews and hazardous responders working around the clock to restore power within the service area.  As of today, less than half of the town is without power.  The power company estimates that 600 customers have been restored today and they estimate that a large amount of the remaining homes in the town should be restored by Wednesday.  However, a couple hundred homes may be without power until thursday or friday.  The Township continues to pressure the power company for more information, and an expedited restoration schedule.  We hope to have more specific information on all locations within the next 24 hours.  In addition, Township Public Works crews continue to work throughout the Township on storm related damage.  Residents should understand, however, that Public Works crews are restricted from working on any downed trees that are touching electric wires.  This work can only be performed by trained Power Company personnel.

While outages continue, the Township Office of Emergency Management remains in operation to offer assistance to those in need (water, ice, shelter if needed).  Individuals in need of assistance should call 973 543-7213.  Thank you for your patience as restoration efforts continue.  As more information is provided by the Power Company we will advise accordingly.
