Important Snow Storm Information From The Mendham Township Office of Emergency Management

Release Date: February 12, 2014

The winter of 2014 continues to pack a punch.  The Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is monitoring the forecast for the major winter storm forecast to hit the area between Wednesday night and Friday morning.  The latest briefing from Morris County Emergency Management advises the storm has the potential to drop 6-12 inches across the region and perhaps even greater amounts depending upon final storm track.  The forecasted snow accumulations, combined with the existing snow pack will challenge snow removal efforts.  The Township Department of Public Works is on standby and will work through the storm to keep the primary roads passable.  The timing for secondary road clearance will be dependent upon the intensity and duration of the storm.  We ask all residents to be patient with the snow clearing operation as this is forecast to be a long storm event.  The Township is still on a limited salt reserve due to the region-wide salt shortage, but we have made plans to utilize a 50-50 mix of salt and grit to allow proper treatment of the roads throughout the storm event.  In the event storm conditions warrant, Township OEM will provide further information regarding warming stations and other services to be made available by the Township.  Emergency messages will be broadcast via e-blasts such as this, posted on the Township Website, and utilizing the Morris County Reverse 911 system.  For the Morris County Office of Emergency Management sign up page click here.  The Reverse 911 system is populated with land-line numbers.  If you wish to have your cell number included in the system, please contact OEM Coordinator, Buzzy Thomas via email at ewt58@aol.com.  In the event you need emergency assistance during the storm, please utilize the 911 system.  Most importantly, if you can stay off of the roads during the storm, please do so. Thank you for your cooperation.
