Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has restored service to 16,000 customers in northern New Jersey who were affected by yesterday’s severe storms. Currently, 4,000 customers remain out of service. The majority of customers affected are in the counties of Morris and Warren. JCP&L has moved additional crews from its central region to the area and also has contractor crews assisting restoration efforts.
        All remaining customers from yesterday’s storm event are expected to be back in service by 11:30 p.m. JCP&L reminds customers to stay away from downed wires, even if they believe they are no longer carrying electricity. Extra caution should be used in areas where downed wires are tangled with trees or other debris. Customers should immediately report downed wires to their utility, or call their local police or fire department.
        As restoration efforts continue, water and ice are available to customers in Morris and Warren Counties. Customers who are out of service may go to the following stores to receive water and ice free of charge.
