Towns Work Together to Promote School Safety
Mendham Borough and Mendham Township Police Team Up to Welcome Students Back to School
Towns Work Together to Promote School Safety
On August 28, police officers from Mendham Borough and Mendham Township welcomed students back to West Morris Mendham High School. The goal of the joint effort was to promote school safety and assure returning students that both towns’ police forces are committed to maintaining a secure environment in which students can focus on their educational growth and development.
“We want students in our high school to know that there are two police forces looking after their safety and security,” stated Sgt. John Camoia, Officer in Charge of the Mendham Borough Police Department. “Students should be able to concentrate on their academic goals, knowing that their school is well-protected by their home towns as well as administration,” he added.
Chief Ross Johnson of the Mendham Township Police Department noted that this is only one example of ongoing expanded cooperation between the police departments in Mendham Township and Mendham Borough.
“In the weeks and months to come, residents of both communities will notice an increasing number of activities in which Township and Borough officers are working together to enhance public safety in both towns,” Johnson observed, noting, “Both the Township and the Borough recognize that pooling their police resources for certain activities can improve law enforcement effectiveness. Our joint efforts in the schools represent the leading edge of this trend.”
