Connecting in an Era of Distraction

Release Date: January 22, 2020
Stigma-Free Workshop on February 4, 2020

The Mendhams Stigma-Free Task Force is pleased to announce a second workshop to provide hope and healing to families during this difficult time in our community, after the sudden loss of two teen-agers on New Year's Day.

This new workshop follows the successful "Community Conversations" held on January 14, which was co-sponsored by the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide and included speakers, Susan Tellone, the Society's clinical director, and Wendy Sefcik, the founder of Remembering T.J.

The workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, February 4,  7:00 PM, in the Mendham Township Library, 2 West Main St., Brookside.

Entitled "Connecting in an Era of Distraction," the evening will feature Paul Hokemeyer, a renowned psychotherapist, author and speaker, who has helped individuals and families around the world.

The discussion will focus on how to create more understanding, intimacy and real connections within our own families and the community at large.

Parents are asked to please RSVP to mendhamstigmafree@gmail.com.

Also, a community survey from the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide was distributed at the first workshop and promoted online. They received more than 100 responses, and the data is now being compiled and analyzed. This survey will help guide the focus of the Task Force in 2020 and beyond.

The Task Force would also like to thank the nearly 50 residents who have volunteered to help support local Stigma-Free initiatives in the coming weeks and months!
