Stars, Stripes & Social Distance

Release Date: June 27, 2020
A Message from Mayor Sarah Neibart

A week from today, we will be celebrating our Country’s Independence Day! Mendham Township has a long tradition of celebrating the Fourth of July in style, traditionally with the Brookside Parade which is known as the “Grandest Little Hometown Parade in America”. This event is usually sponsored by the Brookside Community Club; however, due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Brookside Community Club canceled the parade.  A group of Township stakeholders came together in May and discussed how we can put on a variety of events to celebrate the 4th of July in a safe and fun way that would abide by social distancing guidelines. Our Fourth of July activities include a drive-by parade, a celebration at the Brookside beach, and a free to the public fireworks show at Mosle Field.

The parade will start at 9:05am at Union School House Road and end at the Mendham Township Elementary School. For information on the parade route and where you can park and observe the parade, please click here.

After the parade, please join us at Brookside Beach for a celebration with food trucks, music, and bingo!  For more information, please email our Director of Recreation David Guida at dguida@mendhamtownship.org

Our celebrations will conclude at Mosle Field for Mendham Twp.’s first ever July 4th Fireworks Celebration! This event is free to the public. Due to social distancing guidelines, the number of individuals who can attend is limited. If you are interested in attending, please click here.

This show is NOT a drive-in show. Attendees will be expected to abide by social distancing guidelines and make sure they have a mask on them. The fireworks will be set-off from behind the baseball diamond and to ensure safety, there will be a 350-400 ft. fallout area. All attendees will be seated on the football field.

I would like to sincerely thank everyone who has taken part in our Fireworks Fundraising Campaign. Without the generous donations and sponsorships, this event would not be possible! Also, thank you to our Mendham Twp. Police Department, Fire Department, First Aid Squad, and Professional Staff. In addition to keeping us safe, the joy and creativity that they have helped cultivate over the last few months through safety and programming efforts, has been incredible.

Enjoy the last weekend of June, and hope to see you at our 4th of July Celebrations next week!

Sarah Neibart

Mayor, Mendham Township
