Residential Brush Pick-Up Starts on Monday

Release Date: August 22, 2020
A Message from Mayor Sarah Neibart

Tropical Storm Isaias took down trees, poles, and wires, and left more than 1 million New Jersey residents without power including, at the height, 99% of Mendham Township homes. This was the third largest outage event throughout our state.

Although power is never restored as quickly as we want it to be, I am grateful for the work crews who travelled from across the country to help get us up and running.

The Mendham Township Office of Emergency Management (OEM) completed and submitted its preliminary damage assessment to the County and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

Due to the magnitude of the storm, the Department of Public Works crews will be going throughout the Township to pick up any residential storm related debris and brush that is placed curbside starting this Monday, August 24th. This process will go on for the next few weeks - we appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

To ensure that our streets are safe and passable, debris and brush should be placed on your property near the curb and not in the roadway.  Please remember to place your brush with the ends facing the roads. Also, nothing larger than 6 inches in diameter, or 6 feet long can be picked up. For complete details please visit this link: DPW Brush Pick-up

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has reported that the current oceanic and atmospheric conditions have indicated that it may be an “extremely active” hurricane season this year. It is important for all of us to do our part by getting prepared, remaining vigilant, and being ready to take action when necessary. Visit https://www.ready.gov/hurricanes for more information.
