July Fourth Weekend in Mendham Township

Release Date: June 20, 2021
A Message from Mayor Sarah Neibart

School is out for the Summer, and July 4th is right around the corner! Mendham Township has a long tradition of celebrating our country’s Independence Day in style, and this year’s celebrations are shaping up to be great yet again!

The Township will kick off July 4th Weekend with the Township’s 2nd Annual Public Fireworks Show at Mosle Field on Friday, July 2nd.

Like last year, the fireworks display is free to the public and being funded through private contributions. If you or your business would like to sponsor this celebratory event, a donation can be made directly through the Recreation Department’s Community Pass platform

The Fireworks event will take place from 6:30pm - 10:00pm and a band will be playing music for the duration of the event. There will be giveaways, food trucks, and arts and crafts for the kids. The gates will open at 6:30pm - please arrive early to guarantee a parking spot! There will be handicap parking spaces and transportation from the parking lot to the field available for those who require assistance. After sunset, the fireworks will be set-off from behind the baseball diamond and all attendees will be seated on the football field. Feel free to bring lawn chairs and blankets. The Township Committee will permit alcohol at this event, so feel free to BYOB and please consume responsibly. If you have any questions about this event or if your organization would like to set up a table, please email our Recreation Director David Guida at dguida@mendhamtownship.org

With the lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in New Jersey, the Brookside Community Club is hosting their annual Fourth of July Parade also known as the Grandest Littlest Parade in America on Saturday, July 3rd starting at 9:00am

This will be the 98th year of the parade, and this year's parade theme is: THE ROARING 20s! Line-up for the parade is at 8:30am, and there is still time to enter a float or antique car!  If you are interested, please contact Buzzy Thomas at (201) 738-7881 or ewt58@aol.com. If you do not live in Brookside, parking will be available at the Mendham Township Elementary School.

The schedule of parade events on July 3rd is as follows:

  • 8:00am: Breakfast at the Community Club.
  • 9:00am: Parade Begins.
  • 11:00am: Picnic Lunch & Activities at the Community Club.
  • 1:30pm: Swimming at Brookside Beach.

All events are free for the day, and donations fund the entire event! Year after year, many who grew up in Mendham come back for this annual tradition. So, please open your hearts and your wallets, and help make this a celebration to remember. Please make donations out to "Brookside 4th of July Parade Committee" and send it to the: Brookside Community Club at P.O. 168 Brookside, NJ 07926 or use Venmo - @brooksideparade. All donations are tax deductible.

As always, a strong sense of community is what makes Mendham Township a wonderful place to live and visit! We are grateful for our resident and non-resident support and participation.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and Happy Father’s Day!

Sarah Neibart

Mayor, Mendham Township
