NJ regulations require that the duration of immunity from the most recent rabies vaccination must extend through at least the first 10 months of the 12 month licensing period making the cutoff date 11/1 for dogs (N.J.A.C. 8:23A-4.1) Exemption by a Veterinarian form can be obtained on NJDOH website: http://nj.gov/health/forms/vph-28.pdf. As a courtesy a renewal notice is mailed January 1st for dogs and April 1st for cats provided the pet was licensed in the prior year.
