Frequently Asked Tax Questions

TAX OFFICE
  • TAX PAYMENTS
    • CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS?

You can now pay your property taxes and sewer payments via an online credit card payment to the municipality (a convenience fee applies which will be stated and separately displayed on the online bill and payment.)

    • FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL?

FAILURE TO RECEIVE A TAX BILL DOES NOT RELIEVE THE OBLIGATION OF THE TAX PAYER.

    • INTEREST ON DELINQUENT PAYMENTS?

Any delinquency is subject to interest at the rate of 8% per annum retroactive to the Quarterly Due Date.

    • PAYMENT DUE DATES?

Quarterly payments become due on February 1st, May 1st, August 1st and November 1st. There is a 10 day Grace Period each Quarter. Payments received after the end of the Grace Period are subject to interest.

    • PAYMENT METHODS - HOW CAN I MAKE A TAX PAYMENT?

You can make a payment in person or by mail using a check, money order or cash  and you can make an online tax payment using a credit card. (Online ACH electronic-check payment is planned to be available soon.)

For your convenience, we have a Boro Mailbox located on the outside / sidewalk level of the Municipal Building.

To avoid statutory interest, tax payments must be received in the Tax Office by the 10th day of the month when a quarter is due. If the 10th falls on a holiday or weekend, grace period will be extended to the following business day. After that, the interest is retroactive to the 1st of the month in which the payment is due. POSTMARK IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.

    • PAYMENT RECEIPTS?

If payment is made by Mail or In-Person please provide the full bill and a receipt will be printed on the backside, otherwise your cancelled check is your receipt. If you do require a printed receipt, please send us a stamped, self-addressed envelope, and a receipt will be mailed to you.

If you make an online tax payment, a digital receipt webpage will display that you should print and/or save
when your online payment submission has been succsessfully received by the municpality. The digital-receipt webpage is your OFFICIAL and ONLY receipt for your online tax payment.

    • RETURNED CHECKS?

If your check is returned to us you will be charged a $20.00 handling fee.
